Lesson 8 – Make Your “Someday”— Now.
Lessons I Learned from Mom about Meeting Transitions with Grace.
Do you ever get caught up with the world and its demands of “I’ve-got-to-do-this” and “I should do that?” Have you made promises about how “Someday I’ll do this and someday I’ll do that?”
Mom’s transition re-awakened the realization of my body’s immortality, the passage of time and led to an assessment of what was important.
Facing transitions in work and life stimulates a high aerial view of our lives which helps us see the larger picture.
Some choose to dig deeper to discern what’s important; and, with renewed effort and vision, make the most of life’s opportunities.
Others limit their focus to the urgency of their “to do” list, lose sight of life’s bigger picture and put what’s important aside –for someday.
A good friend who is a financial advisor has sage advice –pay yourself first.
In other words, set aside the funds before the drips of everyday expenditures drain them.
Consider what is important.
We all have the same amount of time in a day. How we use it determines what we value.
We are in the time of Lent.
Is time with God on your someday list? Does he get you at your freshest, or when you’re tired and barely have enough energy to brush your teeth?
Days dribble away.
What comprises your somedays? How many dreams and plans reside there?
Consider bringing what is important forward and make “someday” – now.
