SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS
It’s school time and a good time to send our children to school with prayers for their well-being, protection, and God’s guidance.
Do you recall this old song?
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Readin’ and ‘ritin’ and ‘rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick1
Children today could use God’s help and the value of the golden rule, old-fashioned basics, readin’, ritin and ‘rithmetic, and the hickory stick (discipline with consistent consequences.)
The good news, God works miracles through prayer and prayer is something we all can provide.
Thank you, Father, for wrapping them in the protection of your Light as they attend school in or away from home and activities.
May they recall all the good lessons they’ve learned and apply all the good teachings they’ve heard.
May they have the ability to make wise choices that serve you, others, and them.
Let their ears hear what is true and may they discern what is not.
May their moral compasses be strengthened and may they take in only the good, the right, and the true.
Let darkness not touch them.
Let all bullies be infused with Your love and their negative motivations become actions of kindness.
May nanas, papas, parents, teachers, and school administrators make the most of teachable moments to impart lessons and be a model of the character we desire of them.
“And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” – Deuteronomy 6:7, KJV.
Thank you for giving us the words to encourage them so they keep striving and the wisdom of perfect discipline so they grow positive habits.
Help us, Heavenly Father, teach them well and instill values and virtues that will build solid moral character and will serve them throughout their lives.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” –Proverbs 22:6, KJV.
We send them off with love and trust in You for it is You they need as they will eventually forge the future and lead.
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”—Psalms 127:3, KJV.
